CONCEPT
Creation intrinsically involves destruction, which in turn is itself an act of creation. This infinite cycle has been at the core of my artistic practice since the very beginning, starting out with graffiti writing, which I have always understood as an act of conception, as opposed to vandalism. My first drop on Nifty Gateway, Rust Belt, began a new exploration of destruction and creation with the release of explosion video artworks, along with the incorporation of the detritus they produce. Comprising 2 Open Editions, 1 Ranked Auction and Drawing & Burns for holders, Destroy to Create is a natural progression of this idea, which also establishes a new community-driven concept where holders of my work can interfere in its creation by burning or “exploding” previously acquired NFTs, producing a condition of ephemerality, which has also been a constant element in my artistic practice.

This is my largest explosion project to date, detonated on a 4-storey administrative building in a quiet fossilized shipyard (Lisnave) that once sustained thousands of direct and indirect jobs, reaching 600 docked ships a year at its peak. This piece is a reflection on how our globalised economy generates collapse and creation, mutating the nature of employment and transforming or interrupting the use of buildings, streets and even entire communities. A process where technological development and production revolutionized our way of life, asking for new solutions to growing challenges.
