CONCEPT
Creation intrinsically involves destruction, which in turn is itself an act of creation. This infinite cycle has been at the core of my artistic practice since the very beginning, starting out with graffiti writing, which I have always understood as an act of conception, as opposed to vandalism. My first drop on Nifty Gateway, Rust Belt, began a new exploration of destruction and creation with the release of explosion video artworks, along with the incorporation of the detritus they produce. Comprising 2 Open Editions, 1 Ranked Auction and Drawing & Burns for holders, Destroy to Create is a natural progression of this idea, which also establishes a new community-driven concept where holders of my work can interfere in its creation by burning or “exploding” previously acquired NFTs, producing a condition of ephemerality, which has also been a constant element in my artistic practice.

Detritus #14 to #24
Editions of 5

A selection of 11 detritus produced from my explosion work, now captured as individual NFT’s. Each debris is collected from the explosion and carefully carved to create a new digital piece. Through burning, holders of NFTs from my previous drops can trade them for new and rarer ones. This process empowers supporters of my work to influence which pieces live on and which ones perish. In the future, these NFTs may have the power to trigger an explosion in one of my pieces, where the burning of the old generates the foundation of the new, in a never-ending sequence of creation and destruction. By integrating this possibility, my aim is to create artworks that interact with the community, making them part of the creative process.

Detritus #14 to #20 are burns, and Detritus #21 to #24 are drawings for holders to acquire each edition for $1.00. . The #4 editions from the drawing pieces has been reserved for the artist.

To complete the burn you must send 2 pieces from Vhils last drop to this account. Eligible pieces are found in the following collections: Detritus Add ons, Rust Belt Open Editions, Rust Belt.

Burn begins at 8:15 PM EST and will run for 24 hours, collectors who send BOTH pieces to the above account will be contacted via email about their choice of piece from Detritus #14 - Detritus #20.
