"It was once said that humanity must choose, every single day, that it wants to live. We came so close to the brink so many times in our past, but always escaped a terrible ultimate destiny. Then, when the time came, so did a war to end all others. One so vast, the only remaining option was to escape to the stars. To our neighbouring red planet, to Mars, and to rebuild all that we had lost.
200 years have passed since then, since we ran, since we started again, and as our technology, society and civilization rebuilt itself, so did the Earth. We saw the changes, monitored strange occurrences, unexplainable circumstances, until our curiosity outweighed the fear of what it might be, and we sent a landing team to explore what was once ours.
This is how we met the Ethereals, came to understand their power, their wisdom, and their compassion. Now we have two homes, and we must learn, and not let our past, destroy our future."
