It was after a trip to MOMA in NYC that Laurence Fuller and Adam Disbrow began conversations surrounding what would become their fourth collaboration in web3 ~ spanning two years of artistic endeavours. Through that mutual pursuit of the connection between Abstract Expressionism and Poetry, The Ghost Of A Rose found it's silhouette in a fading bloom. Coming upon Monet's "Waterlilies" as they haunted the halls of MOMA's collection, they were struck by that ghostly presence of a flower's fading in a park that had deep resonance and symbolic meaning for them both. Laurence began writing the poetry on a recent trip to Lisbon where he was presenting an immersive cinematic piece at NFC Summit. While Adam was inspired to create what is perhaps among his best series of paintings thus far. After Laurence saw the paintings for the first time, he took a trip to Highgate Woods in London, where he would frequent as a little boy with his childhood friends and imagine all sorts of adventures. There he finished the poem, and took footage of bushes and flowers that he would alter run through AI to create the animations that blend with Adam's paintings. The poetry performances by Laurence were recorded by sound engineer Chris Turner at Jungle Studios in Soho, London.
The ghost of a rose, A fading bloom, Covered in thorns, Don’t touch too soon,
I walked to the park, Where we buried our hearts, They still beat, though they’re covered in moss In the quiet dusk when only robins tweet, A melting frost, A dull thud like an echo, The grass itself beats, The pulse we call home.
