Look at this cake! It's baked from scratch, half-eaten, captured as an image and translated into artwork. It is gorgeous as food as well as art.
It’s named after the scene in “Twin Peaks” which director David Lynch makes a cameo appearance as FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole – a straightforward, simple man who is doing his everyday job, yet always finding the time for little pleasures, like pie. He says to the waitress that he is going to “write an epic poem about this pie”. The world stops around him so he can enjoy it.
The Gorgeous Pie is the first of INA VARE series of works exploring self made food in art using glitch processes. INA's artistic process involves using tools such as kitchen equipment to prepare the food and video mixers to manipulate electronic signals, process the image and create the analog aesthetic: nostalgic and sentimental.
