In their homage to Fed Square, SUNGRAZERS' NFT depicts the year 2052 and the golden anniversary of Fed Square. Melburnians remember how the Square has been used as a gathering point for all citizens at times of national pride. An autonomous electric drone sets off to carry reminder images of the first such major international event (since the Square's opening in 2002) which was the Commonwealth Games of 2006 which Sara and Jerry filmed from their helicopter.
Musically the piece grows out of the soundscape of the city. The pitch of the drone's engine, the peel of the cathedral bells and the frenetic whispers of a bustling metropolis are all reflected and enhanced in the score, building to a crescendo after the drums announce themselves. The instrumentation reflects both the recent past and the possible future blending strings and bells with robotic arpeggios and manipulated textures.
