This project consists of 4 different DROPS, each one narrates a future invented by the artist, based on the theory of archetypes. These works challenge us and invite us to think about what future we really want for our society. According to Jim Dator's theory (1970), all the futures that human beings have imagined throughout history can be classified within four general archetypes, taking into account what happens in each imagined future.
These four archetypes are: Growth, Collapse, Discipline and Transformation.
This is the result of a project that took me a year of work, the idea came from an exhibition called Stories of the Future at the Telefónica Foundation. In this exhibition, they talked about how humans always imagine the future based on four general narratives (Jim Dator's theory). I found this very interesting, and so I wanted to create my own future worlds in the form of contemporary art. LEYVEL.
WORLD BUILDING
In the long process of the collection, the artist scanned her face to give realism to her future selves. There is an Art Book documenting the whole creative process of Reflections, the world building and character creations. Buyers of 1 Limited Editions for each of 4 Drops will be entitle to receive one phisical or digital version of it.
"There is no single future 'out there' to be predicted. There are many alternative futures to be anticipated and pre-experienced to some degree." — Jim Dator, influential futurist.
In the future of growth, energy is limitless, Dyson spheres allow humans to grow, without destroying. In this window into the future, Hera (alter ego of the artist Leyvel, with her digitised features), travels to a new planet: everything is to be explored, to be discovered. Hera, in the mythology of the goddess of the stars, is growing.
