Exhibition Title : Pride Comes Before The Fall

Seth Pimentel's debut solo exhibition titled Pride Comes Before The Fall seeks to be a pulsating nerve centre through which the artist embraces a looming metamorphosis of self. Broaching from long standing ouvre marked by theme attractions around mental wellness and self-portraiture, Pimentel exhibits a body work that bids farewell to an ego whose gravitational core is in the past whilst simultaneously beckoning a new horizon in which a new version of selfhood is in waiting. “Through the work mine is a journey of self awakening. Along this journey there is knowledge that change is an inevitable part of life, but that is not to say there isn't reluctance towards change. Each piece in my solo exhibition is a manifestation of letting go of ego amid the reluctance that shapes that journey”, says Pimentel. Pimentel's Pride Comes Before The Fall is a meta-narrative of pencil sketches funnelled to exist as digital illustrations, the resultant medium being where he first sowed his seeds as an emerging artist. The iridescence that comes with the colour play contained in the body of work is a spectrum along which multiple versions of the self illuminate a personal truth. As an invitation to the evolution of his style throughout his years as a practicing artist, Pimentel projects to the viewer to witness the fragility and beauty that result from significant life transitions. In deliberately positioning 'The Fall' as a positive that charges away from 'The Pride' that comes before in the title of the exhibition, Pimentel's display leans towards celebrating the capacity of the human spirit as a vessel that is ever evolving.
