Since I left my job writing software in 2018 to pursue my art career full time, I’ve been searching for a way to bring those two worlds (code and art) together. When I discovered the crypto/NFT space, I knew that I’d found the materials I’d use to build the connecting bridge.
‘14:59’ completes the story that began with ‘Uncharted Waters’ and continued with ‘The New World,’ setting the stage for the next story to begin...
It’s been famously said that in the future everyone would experience fifteen minutes of fame. ‘14:59’ is my way of saying goodbye to the many behaviors, thoughts, and ideas that have kept technology and art separate parts of my life and chronicles my journey back into programming.
Each piece in this collection represents something that I’ve learned and something that I’ve put into practice, culminating with my first two dynamic NFTs in which I not only created the artwork, but also wrote the smart contracts that provide the core logic behind the tokens. The collection is full of references to the tensions between the centralized world of yesterday and the decentralized world of today and tomorrow, as well as playful observations about the market and our own obsession with taxonomy and rarity. While ‘14:59’ marks the end of one chapter in my life, it acknowledges that I still have much to learn and welcomes the next chapter, where creating art and writing code exist together.
All of the pieces in the collection come with a physical print. See listing for more details.
