Ashley Bickerton: Ocean Chunks

Lehmann Maupin presents three new Augmented Reality artworks by the critically-acclaimed artist Ashley Bickerton. Working as an artist from the ‘80s to the present day, Bickerton is known for using varied media to explore materiality, culture, consumerism, and the relationship between humans and the natural environment. These three Augmented Reality artworks can be experienced anywhere in the world using the links found here—no app required. They were also designed to be experienced at locations throughout Chelsea, New York, including the High Line, Little Island, and outside Lehmann Maupin gallery.

In 1986, Ashley Bickerton was included in a four-person show at the Sonnabend Gallery that included Jeff Koons, Peter Halley and Meyer Vaisman. In 2004, The New Museum exhibited "East Village USA," a show that featured "Neo-Geo" artists including Bickerton. In 2009, he was included in "Pop Life: Art in a Material World," at the Tate Modern in London. The following year, he was exhibited in "Collecting Biennials" at the Whitney Museum of American Art, which acted as a counterpoint to the 2010 Biennial and paid homage to the previous 80 years of Whitney Biennials. He has had solo exhibitions in New York, California, Singapore, and London.

Drawings will run from 6:30 PM EST March 29th until 6 PM EST March 30th in order to allow for international collector participation.

Any unsold works may be personally kept by the artist.
