Over the course of 30 years making digital art, I often use myself as a reference, a jumping off point because well… I'm always there-call it a matter of convenience. It's not so much me as subject that is of interest in the works, but rather as an actor portraying emotions and experiences of everyday life. As an artist, writer and university lecturer on history, economics and the machinations of the art world, there is more than enough material to contend with, including the advent of NFTism and its violent collision with what is considered traditional fine art. "The Hoarder" is in vein of an epic (micro) horror movie, probably the only of its kind made especially for release as an NFT, in what will be the first in an ongoing series of episodes. In the video, the main character becomes overwhelmed; and, ultimately crushed and suffocated by the sheer breadth of a physical art collection, a phenomenon (most) digital art buyers will never come face to face with. In "Eating the Bubble", I face head-on the constant and unfounded criticism levied against crypto art, that it is nothing but a passing, overinflated fad. In fact NFT's are not going anywhere-not now, in the near future or forever. In "Mini Meebit Minecraft Meeshit", I've transformed myself into the latest Larva Labs phenomenon, but in this instance, a sad soul that reflects the covetous lust of wanting something without being given the opportunity to choose specifically which. Forced to participate in a blind lottery to acquire 20,000 Meebits, the majority of purchasers came up short getting stuck with less desirable figures, against ever increasing ETH values. Including me.
