Georgina Hooper, also known in China and Japan as Choy Gina 蔡金娜 is an artist and PhD scholar exploring traditional Chinese painting through the lens of neuroscience and creative practice. She graduated from a Bachelor in Fine Art in1999 majoring in painting, attained teaching degree in 2003 with academic merit and went on to study art history. In 2010 Hooper was invited as a research scholar to Tianjin University to deepen her practice and understanding of traditional Chinese painting under the tutelage of the Head of the School of Art and Architecture at TU, Professor Dong Ya. Hooper now traverses digital and physical technologies to explore the human, technological and metaphysical realities of our existence. She fuses historical and contemporary methodologies of making informed by Eastern and Western philosophy in pursuit of artworks that make visible the invisible energies around and within us.
