The Art & Science of Vision by Dr Dominic Lam

As well as being a celebrated Scientist, Dr Lam is an artist of note in 20th century art history, most recognized for developing a new form of painting that doesn't use pigments and dyes to create color, but uses black and white photo paper, and chemical solutions to create a range of colors. The technique was discovered using his thorough knowledge as a Professor of Ophthalmology to analyze how we visualize and process color in nature, such as the sky being blue, sunsets making the sky orange, specifically the relationships of light, surfaces, chemical elements and the processing of that relationship/information by the visual cortex. Dr Lam's first NFT collection with Nifty Gateway uses algorithms to simulate the relationship of the eye, visual cortex and "chromoskedasic" stimuli to add a new, dynamic and spatial representation of the process. There is also a collaboration with Sophia The Robot as Dr Lam is extremely interested in supporting AI development as it relates to Ophthalmology for the benefit of humans and AI evolution. The project is a fundraiser for The World Eye Organisation, founded by Dr Lam to offer free eye care to those in need.
