Prolific NYC electronic music duo The Knocks deliver a carefree dance music sound that draws from soul, funk, disco, hip hop, house, and pop. Comprised of James Patterson and Ben Ruttner, the duo have been producing a dizzying array of danceable New York inspired music for a decade now. They have released 2 full length albums [55, New York Narcotic] and have performed their hit singles on US late night TV shows [Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers], collaborated with some of music's biggest names [Foster The People, Carly Rae Jepsen, X Ambassadors, Cam’ron]. They released their massively successful debut NFT collection Technicism on Nifty Gateway in February of this year, and followed it up last month with an instantly sold out drop as part of RAC’s Minerva collection, both in collaboration with digital artist Moistbreezy.
Moistbreezy is the moniker of multidisciplinary artist Ida Chelengar. Although formally trained in studio art and film production, much of her visual style stems from stepping up to new challenges while expanding her digital skill set through self-education. Her recent works focus on cinematic world-building through CGI, channeling her love for sci-fi and the Y2K aesthetic as well as a nostalgia for the animated films she grew up with. The Knocks and Moistbreezy return to Nifty Gateway with their DISCO FUCKS collection for Pride. The "Disco Sucks" movement of 1979 was a racist and homophobic backlash attacking both the music and communities of minorities. The campaign, led by a white radio DJ in Chicago, focused on desecrating disco and its influence on pop culture and the artists who created it. Disco helped to shape modern house, hip-hop, pop, and club culture. DISCO FUCKS is here to celebrate and empower these communities.
