A Boring Game of Poker Open Edition by Jose Delbo

Jose Delbo is an 87-year-old comic artist whose professional career spans over 70 years and includes work on nearly every iconic comic series we know and love. Delbo’s career began when he was just a 16-year-old boy living in Argentina. But in 1965, Delbo packed up his bags and moved his family to the United States in pursuit of his dream of becoming a professional comic book artist. Delbo was fortunate enough to be able to live out that dream, and for the next six decades, he illustrated virtually every major comic series that existed, from hero-based comics like Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Green Arrow, The Transformers and The Thundercats to TV show adaptations like The Twilight Zone, The Brady Bunch, Hogan’s Heroes, Buck Rogers, The Mod Squad, Disney’s 101 Dalmatians, Little Mermaid and the Mighty Ducks, to American Westerns such as Billy the Kid, Judge Colt and the Lone Ranger. Delbo even illustrated the now infamous Beatles Yellow Submarine comic book.

Delbo’s career took an important turn in July of 2020 when he released his first piece of digital art on the blockchain in the form of a 43-page original digital comic book called “Death . . . No Escape.” This historic release made him one of the first comic artists to release a full-length original comic book on the blockchain; all at the age of 86 years old! Since then, Delbo has been focused on creating works exclusively for the NFT space collaborating with some of the top artists in the space and continuing to evolve his art in the process.

For this newest NFT release, A Boring Game Of Poker, Delbo has collaborated with 3 collectors, Wsavas, friesframe, and Girlboss8522 to create a new piece using Bored Ape Yacht Club apes owned by those collectors and Delbo. The Bored Apes are depicted in an interpretation of the infamous Dogs Playing Poker piece by Cassius Marcellus Coolidge.
