Releasing his first Publisher collection, King of Midtown introduces Anita Sadowska and Zak Tustont for their debut on Nifty Gateway. Beauty + Garbage, a collection highlighting two paradoxical art styles and approaches.
Focused on capturing the essence of female beauty and power, Anita Sadowska has traveled the world photographing nude models in various settings. Representing the first component of this drop, we ask the community, what makes Anita’s work beautiful? Is it the unique poses and angles? The stunning models? Exotic scenery or, to quote King himself, “badass locations”? Lighting, edits, colors, or the intoxicating yet tasteful nudity? King was drawn in by all of these components, each equally important and essential in differentiating her work with many other nude photographers. Introducing her to an entirely new audience and collector base, Anita’s debut on Nifty Gateway features Perspectives, a collection of three works exploring female nudity and how it fits within the constraints of modern society through a prism of a woman’s gaze. Releasing a third piece to reward collectors and King of Midtown community holders, Kallide is a 24 hour Open Edition. Random pieces have been reserved for Anita’s previous collectors and exclusive access to this piece has been granted only to KOM Gold + Platinum membership holders.
Ironically curated alongside glamorous and provocative photography, King of Midtown introduces the King of Meta-Garbage, Zak Tustont. Intentionally and independently self branding his artwork as garbage, Tustont builds upon the psychological theory that ‘society loves to hate’. Taking a massive risk, he pivoted his career with the decision to use negative language to describe his art, forever associating his work with words like gross, disgusting and trash. Initially noticing Tustont’s personality and interaction with the community, King of Midtown later collected his art, personally gravitating to and finding beauty in the abstract yet detailed work. King specifically loves having been able to witness the birth and organic growth of the Meta-Garbage movement.
Now bringing trash to a whole new platform, Tustont uses art to pose the question ‘Do you have internet friends or enemies?’ Capturing the anonymous nature of Web3, Internet Friends and Enemies accentuates the fact that many of us may not know what some of our now closest friends look like. Do they aesthetically meet our assumptions and expectations? Or are they surprisingly different from what we imagine, resembling the aggressive creatures in Tustont’s art and competitive components of NFT Twitter. Releasing a third piece to reward collectors and King of Midtown community holders, Beyond the Curtain is a 24 hour $1 Open Edition. Random pieces have been reserved for previous collectors and exclusive access to this piece has been granted only to KOM Gold + Platinum membership holders.
