A New Dawn by Jason Ebeyer

'A New Dawn' consists of six panoramics offering a window into intimacy.

The collection details ambiguous scenes of eroticism and nostalgia set against the backdrop of silent suburban cul-de-sacs. The various scenes comprise feelings and emotions of companionship whilst isolated which all climax with a feeling of observation and awareness. The exteriors feel akin to each other, but through intimate reflection, the seamlessly unending narratives of the figures within each composition engulf us.

Developed during the final months of Melbourne's 260+ day lockdown, feelings of remoteness and emptiness transcended into an eagerness for life after isolation. Offering an expansion to 'The Moors Of Separation' collection whilst engaging his solo piece 'Collider' from the 'H+ Creative Legends Fvckrender, Blake Kathryn and Jason Ebeyer' group collection to act as a bridge between both anthologies, the title for this body of work derives itself from those emotions and the yearning for human connection. Suburbia sets our stage, a symbol of familiarity and sentimentality whilst also making a statement about the facade people present. This is a concept Ebeyer first explored in his 2017 solo exhibition 'Psychotropic Garden'.

Drawing from the sense of voyeurism blended with lighting, color and composition techniques from cinematography, Ebeyer has created a collection of work which acts as windows into inconclusive narratives which feel surreal and distant yet warmly intimate.
